James McAllister & Sons,Ballymena was a distillery established in 1854 by an Antrim entrepreneur of the same name.McAllister was very  innovative both in terms of developing his range of products and also in its marketing.Long before television, he used advertising from the use of mirrors displayed in pubs to posters like this particular one placed at prominent locations, in order to attract potential customers.Among his stable of whiskey brands, the most famous was “Clan Colla” which, unusually for a local distiller, was widely exported in the early 1900s to the US and the rest of the world.
